Diane: So, Dan, how ABOUT that Season 2 DVD???

fboffo_DKnauf: I'm going to be doing commentary next week.

Allison_CarnyCon: really, do you know which episodes?

fboffo_DKnauf: We'll be commenting on eps 2.06, 2.09 and 2.12.

BensBritches: Can you tell us about any other extras?

fboffo_DKnauf: Hopefully some cut scenes.

CBFCBeth: do you know who will be doing commentary with you?

fboffo_DKnauf: I'll be commenting with directors and maybe a few of the actors. I think they're going to throw in the "Making of a Scene" weblets.

fboffo_DKnauf: Sadly, Showtime passed on all new comedies in development.

blondeambition_: well Dan...how's your private plane these days? Does it do any 'pick up's' in Canada ?!

fboffo_DKnauf: I just bought a Crown Vic. Police Interceptor. I look like a narc or something.

fboffo_DKnauf: It was a co-production with BBC.

fboffo_DKnauf: So "Where the Hart Is" is in turnaround.

BensBritches: Which means?

fboffo_DKnauf: It's in limbo. Maybe we can sell it to somebody else. But I got a bunch of other stuff going on.

CBFCBeth: anything you can talk about yet?

fboffo_DKnauf: Can't, or I'd have to kill you.

fboffo_DKnauf: I have a very creepy pitch with Tracy Torme
called "City Limits," another one with Ridley and Tony Scotts
company called "The Panopticon" (both paranoid thrillers.

fboffo_DKnauf: And a solo project. Believe it or not, a contemporary private-eye show.

fboffo_DKnauf: <--------- LOVED Magnum and The Rockford Files.

fboffo_DKnauf: It's time to do one of those cool, swaggering private- eye shows.

kaya: who do you picture as the lead character?

fboffo_DKnauf: Andy Garcia.

rescusitated via DVD sales.

fboffo_DKnauf: I watch so little. Most of the stuff on tv is crap.

fboffo_DKnauf: Hey, I was pleasantly surprised by "The Exorcism of Emily Rose."

LexxiSmiles: I love movies. I love the fact that the movie theatre in town only costs $3 and pop is 75 cents and popcorn is $1.

Allison_CarnyCon: another carnivale question. if the series had continued, how important would the saunniere manuscript have been to the overall story?

fboffo_DKnauf: Th3e Saunierre Mss. is mildly relevant.

Diane: Dan, When did Scudder join the templars and did Lodz know about it?

fboffo_DKnauf: Scudder was in the templars through 1923, I think.

BensBritches: That's when Kerrigan painted the mural, yes?

fboffo_DKnauf: Yes yes.

kaya: so does Scudder's soul go directly to hell or does BJ have it?

fboffo_DKnauf: Scudder? Does he go to Hell?

voodoochild: Were we ever going to see more of Justin's book he wrote in the asylum?

fboffo_DKnauf: We lost the book in the narrative. HBO kept
saying, "NO, he's a RADIO minister! Not a WRITER! It'll confuse the audience!"

fboffo_DKnauf: I mean... *confuse* the audience? THIS audience?

Michelle: well, it is difficult to think that someone can write AND speak

fboffo_DKnauf: And chew gum.

Allison_CarnyCon: do you know if the original pilot will be
available on the season two dvd?

fboffo_DKnauf: Allison, the *original* pilot really was a misstep. I think you'd be disappointed, really.

clancyfancier: DK, how did you know that Ben would do such a good job acting? I mean, he is young, and an unknown. It was a very demanding role. He was excellent. Should have gotten an award.

Michelle: i don't think Nick is an "unknown"

fboffo_DKnauf: I know. All our actors got screwed.

fboffo_DKnauf: The problem was, not enough people actually saw the show for it to make an impression on the voters.

voodoochild: I have a weird question, Dan. What's Justin doing in the asylum when Iris is speaking over the radio? It looks like some sort of embroidery . . .

fboffo_DKnauf: He's making a wallet.

fboffo_DKnauf: I actually considered having him weave a basket, but it was too funny.

CBFCBeth: wallet maing is right there between basket weaving and ceramic ashtrays, though

Aprilsong: Does anyone know if the fact we are having Carny Con live gotten to HBO and will it make a difference?

CBFCBeth: Dunno if it will make a difference, but it sure can't
hurt, I wuold think

Michelle: dan, random question...why did Bro J have pants and the rest of the asylum folk only have gowns?

fboffo_DKnauf: That's a good question, Michelle. I have no idea.

Allison_CarnyCon: would phinneas boffo have been in future episodes? did he have a more important role that would have been established had there been future seasons?

fboffo_DKnauf: Phineas may come into play.

fboffo_DKnauf: <----------- realizes he's sounding like a Magic 8- Ball.

blondeambition_: Dan...what did you think of Kate's vids she made?

fboffo_DKnauf: Kat'es videos... Damn that girl.

fboffo_DKnauf: I really was dead to the loss after the cancellation. Numb. Then I saw that vid with Nick and Clea, and the tears just started rolling down my cheeks.

fboffo_DKnauf: It was like, I realized for the first time just how beautiful the show was.

Allison_CarnyCon: In the Tipton episode, the head of the Templars is behind Sofie in the tent watching Ben perform as Benjamin St John. Was this intentional on your part or merely the case of the same actor being used as an extra?

fboffo_DKnauf: Allison, that's just an actor who resembles him. There was no intent to put any templars in Tipton.

CBFCBeth: The Lodz/Ben scene in the black blizzard cabin... Was the cabin real? Or did ben never leave the truck and it was all in his mind?

fboffo_DKnauf: I always thought is was a vision.

CBFCBeth: and did Lodz help precipitate that vision?

fboffo_DKnauf: You should've seen the first draft. It was AWESOME!!!

fboffo_DKnauf: Actually, Ben stubles into the cabin to find an
entire family, grandparents, adults, kids, sitting at a big Norman Rockellian turkey dinner...

fboffo_DKnauf: And they're all dead. Faulty furnace venting.

fboffo_DKnauf: The entire dialogue with Lodz takes place in this room with an extended family that's been gassed.

fboffo_DKnauf: Resonating the horrors to come in WWII.

fboffo_DKnauf: HBO didn't *get* that either.

LexxiSmiles: Did Lodz just view Ben's dreams when touching him, or was he able to influence Ben's feelings and perceptions about them?

fboffo_DKnauf: Lodz just read Ben's dreams, Lexx. He didn't write em.

fboffo_DKnauf: That was my job.

fboffo_DKnauf: Heh.

BensBritches: But in the "real" version, it was a vision and not
real, right?

fboffo_DKnauf: Britches, we always left the "is is real or a vision" question up to the viewer.

fboffo_DKnauf: I'm sort of with H.P. Lovecraft on that dreeams Vs. reality thang.

CBFCBeth: OKay, i'll try this one... When the radio station changed for Sofie -- what/who changed the channel?

fboffo_DKnauf: Incipient unconscious PK.

fboffo_DKnauf: Heh.

CBFCBeth: The beginning of unconcious ability to move things with her own mind?

lulubrooks: question for dan: have you always aesthetically
gravitated toward the macabre?

fboffo_DKnauf: Lulu, the first story I wrote was horror, but I've written straight drama, Westerns, action movies, ramances.

fboffo_DKnauf: And comedies.

fboffo_DKnauf: I'm whatchya call versitile.

kaya: what about a pirate show Dan? "Blackbeard"

BensBritches: Ladybeard?

lulubrooks: i did want to say, i really think the aesthetics,etc of the show was spot on for being current...maybe im sounding too fashion-y cos that's what i do, but i think the grim is settling into culture all around and yr show was so perfect for today!

fboffo_DKnauf: Boy, they ran out screaming.

fboffo_DKnauf: I think we were just a bit ahead of the curve.

ilovecarnivale: Carnivale has been the best show I have ever seen. So different from anything that is out there.

fboffo_DKnauf: All the shows that were on when Carnivale was
greenlit were doctors, cops and lawyers. Now look at
the Fall schedule. It's all genre stuff.

lulubrooks: dan--in the future story will you be addressing more issues of race politics? i know its been an undertone throughout but will it be dealt with head on?

fboffo_DKnauf: Lulu, as far as Carnivale goes, it''s all about the oppressed and the oppressors. And both come in all colors.

ilovecarnivale: Who plays the music for when the show starts. Anyone know?

fboffo_DKnauf: Wendy and Lisa.

BensBritches: About the dreams... are avatars sent dreams by other avatars, as Beccas said to Ben, or are the dreams really just part of the avatar's subconscious? Were dreams sent to Becca because she wasn't an avatar?

fboffo_DKnauf: I think the dream-world is shared by everyone. The difference between Avatara and the rest of us is that they have frequent-flier miles.

fboffo_DKnauf: Yes, that was Karin and Sarah singing. Talk about close harmony! They were so sweet.
